Over recent weeks, several threads describing significant mood instability, aggression, or post-cycle depressive symptoms have appeared in General Discussion and Bodybuilding rather than this section. The pattern invites reflection.
Communities focused heavily on physiological optimization tend to grade symptoms by their measurability. Hematocrit, lipids, and liver values receive systematic monitoring. Psychological changes, which are equally physiologically grounded during hormonal manipulation, are reported inconsistently and often only after consequences have accumulated. Family and occupational impact tends to surface before any bloodwork does, precisely because these changes are not captured in a standard panel.
An argument in favor of integrating mood assessment into protocol planning: documented relationships exist between androgen exposure and emergent psychiatric presentations, including mania and severe depressive episodes in predisposed individuals. A harm-reduction framework that catalogs physical side effects while omitting mood monitoring is structurally incomplete relative to the risks involved.
My question for the section, offered sincerely rather than rhetorically: should mood reporting be treated as a standard component of cycle documentation, at the same level as bloodwork? Members who have experienced notable changes, their own or in others, would be contributing something few threads here currently capture.
