For those who have followed the research closely, do you think the glucagon component is what makes it particularly interesting compared with the older GLP-1 based compounds, or is the difference being overstated?

The glucagon component gives retatrutide a real edge (25% weight loss vs 20% for tirzepatide), possibly via increased energy expenditure, but without head-to-head trials it's hard to prove how much the glucagon piece matters.

The glucagon aspect stands out as one of the more interesting differences, but some people make it seem like it’s the only factor behind the results. Triple agonism actually creates a different overall effect, not just a stronger version of GLP-1.
Based on what I’ve read, glucagon activity might help with energy use and fat metabolism, while GLP-1 and GIP mostly affect appetite and metabolism. It’s still unclear if this will offer a big real-world benefit over the newer GLP-1/GIP drugs, so I’d like to see more data. Still, the early results are interesting.
