Kyle Landi Keeps Making History on the Road to an IFBB Pro Card

Kyle Landi Continues IFBB Pro Card Pursuit with Strong Showing at Toronto Pro Qualifier. Kyle Landi, a Canadian bodybuilder with Down syndrome, came agonizingly close to earning his IFBB Pro card after finishing second at the 2026 International Toronto Pro Qualifier. The runner-up result marked another milestone in Landi’s remarkable bodybuilding journey, as he continues to break barriers and prove himself against top amateur competitors. Although he narrowly missed professional status, his performance reinforced his place among the leading athletes in his division and kept his IFBB Pro card aspirations firmly within reach.

Runner-Up Finish at a Historic Event

The International Toronto Pro Qualifier took place during the Toronto Pro Supershow weekend in Toronto, Ontario. The event was one of the biggest amateur bodybuilding competitions in Canada and offered athletes a rare opportunity to earn professional status.

According to event organizers, the 2026 edition awarded 23 IFBB Pro cards, the largest number ever offered at a Canadian qualifier. Despite the expanded opportunities, Landi narrowly missed out on securing one of those coveted cards, finishing just one position away from victory.

While the result was not what he had hoped for, it confirmed that he could compete among the top amateur bodybuilders on a major stage.

A Trailblazer in Bodybuilding

Landi, an Ontario-based athlete with Down syndrome (Trisomy 21), has become a well-known figure within the fitness and bodybuilding community. Through years of dedication and hard work, he has challenged perceptions and inspired athletes around the world.

His profile rose significantly in 2023 when he became the first Canadian bodybuilder with Down syndrome to gain widespread attention in the sport. Since then, he has continued to build momentum through competitive appearances and collaborations with some of bodybuilding’s biggest names.

Training Alongside Legends

Throughout his journey, Landi has trained with and met several high-profile bodybuilding personalities, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Nick Walker, Ronnie Coleman, Larry Wheels, Flex Wheeler, Breon Ansley, Antoine Vaillant, and Tristyn Lee.

His interactions with Schwarzenegger drew particular attention. The seven-time Mr. Olympia publicly praised Landi's commitment to fitness and used his story to emphasize that bodybuilding and strength training should be accessible to everyone, regardless of their circumstances.

Building Momentum Toward Professional Status

The Toronto Pro Qualifier was another important step in Landi’s pursuit of an IFBB Pro card. Although he left the stage without professional status, his second-place finish demonstrated clear progress and showed that he is capable of challenging for top honors at major qualifying events.

What Comes Next?

The path forward is clear. Landi will return to training with the goal of refining his physique and making the final push toward professional status.

While Toronto did not produce the breakthrough result he was seeking, it provided something equally important: validation that he can compete at the highest amateur level. With another strong performance now added to his resume, the pursuit of an IFBB Pro card remains very much alive.
